Contemporary Islam in the Malay World: 
Relationship between Malay Ethnicity and Islamic Religiosity Revisited

Background

FOCUS, the acronym for Forum Cendekiawan Umat Serantau (“Regional Umma’s Intellectuals Forum”) was founded in 2006, initially serving as a vehicle for one of the intellectual and scholarly activities of International Institute of Islamic Thought for Southeast Asian countries. Its main goal is to provide an intellectual forum for Muslim academics and scholars, especially from the heartland of the Southeast Asian region, to discourse on important issues pertaining to Islam and the Muslims and the various intellectual challenges confronting the contemporary Muslim umma. Theme for the Sixth FOCUS Conference will be “Contemporary Islam in the Malay World: Relationship between Malay Ethnicity and Islamic Religiosity Revisited.” We welcome all scholars and post graduate students to submit abstracts relevant to the theme. 

Call for Papers

Submission of Abstract: Before 15 February, 2021
(Language: Bahasa and English. Length: 250 – 350 words)
Notification of Acceptance: 22 February, 2021
(Only accepted abstract for Conference presentation will be notified)
Conference Dates: 09 – 11 March, 2021
Submission of Full Paper: 15 May, 2021
